To be able to see what I'm doing with electrickery, I installed a TED5000 system.

Basically you have measuring units that you clip around the incoming power line to the house, and the power line from the solar inverter, and they send information through a powerline network to a wall wart that generates data about what you're doing, like this:

I can see what power I'm using and generating throughout the day, or even...

A view of what I'm using throughout the month (or week, or year...).

The light blue is power generated, the green is power from the grid, and the purple is the total amount of power I've used.
